I had always dreamed of photographing an engagement session on the Brooklyn Bridge. So waking up before the sun and the crowds of tourists was the best decision when planning A + R’s engagement session last spring. The couple lives a subway ride away in Manhattan but love hanging out in the neighborhood of Dumbo. They knew they wanted to have their engagement session photographed on the other side of the river. We popped a bottle of champagne, we laughed ( A LOT ) and they danced around as I captured their love on one of the most iconic bridges in the world! Once the sun came up and the bridge started to fill up, we popped down to snag photos with the Manhattan Bridge in the background as this madly in love couple danced in the streets of Dumbo, Brooklyn.
One of my favorite part of this session, aside from the couple themselves, was the simplicity of it. Of course the backdrop was insanely gorgeous but A + R were just so effortlessly into each other. They were goofy, in the best possible way. They didn’t need a ton of posing. They let the magic make itself. These images are as timeless as their love and it was truly an honor to capture such a special time for them!
Brooklyn continues to be one of my favorite cities to photograph. Whether on the bridge itself or bouncing around the many eclectic neighborhoods. It is a paid extra in all of the best ways! 😉
